Our Bridge

Our
Bridge

I

My
love
I
think our talk bridge
Would
work so much better
If
we drew a yellow line
Down
the middle
So
we could safely cross

In
each direction
II

My
love
I
think we need a bridge
Made
of Rosetta Stones

III

My
love
I
couldn’t see your side
Until
I reached
The
middle
Of
this arched bridge

IV

My
love
Now
that I’ve crossed to you
And
look back
At
the path to my side
I
see why
You
were loathe to cross to me

V
(The Question of Commuter Love)

Is
our love
Ever
a single shared island?
Or
will it always be
Two
islands and a bridge?

VI

This
bridge is quite amazing
Having
endured the Chicago fire
Where
it was burned
Beyond
all recognition

Father Figurine (Bill Ross c 1998)

Everyone needs
A father figurine
To sit at table head
From thence to rule
And newspaper read
Then to couch
To flip and smoke
Or childhood
Is incomplete

My new personal blog, for poetry and stuff

I wanted to post some of my poems and stuff, so rather than continue to publish off-topic stuff on my book website (http://bibleshockers.blogspot.com), I thought I should set up a new blog.

Here is one of my poems...

Today I Will Write Poetry © 1998 Bill Ross

Yesterday

I charged bravely

into quixotic ventures

Tomorrow I will address important demands

But today I will,

dog-like,

lick my painful

bleeding wounds

And write poetry
